Meet Sara Linda Poly, our judge for the Sixth Annual Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition in 2017!
Sara Linda Poly grew up in the Philadelphia area, attending classes at the Philadelphia College of Art. Further education includes Montgomery College of Art and Design in Maryland and Northern VA Community College, and various studies with local and national artists. Sara’s experience includes owning an illustration and design business, and working as the assistant gallery director and instructor at the Art League Galley, in Alexandria, VA.
Known for her light, skies and landscapes, Sara has been the winner of numerous awards (Including the Grand Prize at Plein Air Easton 2016) and a participant in many regional and national shows and plein air competitions. Feature articles include International Artist Magazine and Plein Air Magazine.
The artist has spent many years living, traveling and teaching around the US, Europe and Mexico and teaches classes and workshops locally and internationally. Memberships include: The Oil Painters of America, The Washington Society of Landscape Painters, and The Salmagundi Club, NYC. Sara Linda Poly will be offering “Light in the Landscape” a workshop on Monday, June 12 and Tuesday, June 13th. This workshop will cover composition and design, choosing subject matter, how to use light and shadow, color, and atmospheric perspective to show distance, as well as new ideas for paint application. Demos, critiques and lots of personal attention are included. All levels welcome!
