Scenic Painting Spots
40 artists invited to the Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition and Festival will arrive in Canandaigua in June looking for interesting scenes and vistas to paint. Come rain or shine!
Festival organizers hope local residents can help by opening grounds, farmland, vineyards, gardens, woods, fields, docks, ponds, buildings with character, etc. for an annual event that draws professional artists from all across the US and Canada. The artist will respect your property and not disturb or leave behind anything, but perhaps a foot print and a great work of art! The large boundary allows them to explore and seek out spots all around Canandaigua Lake and a few miles inland from all sides of the lake. Spots to paint in case of rain are a huge help such as porches, gazeboes, open sided structures.
“Over the last five years, gifted painters have captured so many of the memorable vistas we all know. This year, we again hope to give them access to special places that are more out-of-the way,” said Pat Rini Rohrer, a member of the committee organizing the fifth annual event, which runs June 6 – 11.
All sales must still proceed through and will benefit the OCAC and the Finger Lakes Plein Air Festival.
Are you interested in offering access to your property? Please complete the short questionnaire below along with a couple of images of your “special spot”. The main dates that the artist would be painting on your property would be June 7-10th. (The festival dates are: June 6 – June 11, 2016) Each artist would be wearing an identifying FLPA lanyard.
