Events & Tickets
This year’s Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition & Festival will run from June 6 – 11, 2017 and will again be held under the auspices of the Ontario County Arts Council. The event will feature over forty talented artists from across the United States and Canada who will paint the beauty of Canandaigua and the Finger Lakes. The event will bring in art lovers and collectors, as well as those who want to participate in the community-centered events planned for downtown Canandaigua. An exhibition and sale will be held on the final day of the event at the historic site of Sonnenberg Gardens in Canandaigua.

9:00am-8:00pm — Artists may register at the festival Headquarters, and may begin painting any time after registration. Headquarters address: Pat Rini Rohrer Gallery, 71 S. Main Street, Canandaigua (parking behind the gallery in a rear lot, east of Main Street.)
Canandaigua Downtown Merchants “Adopt An Artist”
FREE & Open to public
10:00am-6:00pm — Artists will be paired with Canandaigua Downtown Merchants to exhibit for sale studio and other work in Downtown Canandaigua Merchants’ windows. This is a great chance to check out more work by the artists and purchase their original artwork during the entire week of the festival! An Art Walk and Reception for artists with work in
Canandaigua Downtown Merchants select location will be held on Thursday, June 8 from 6:00 -8:00pm.
Paint Out along the Canandaigua Wine Trail, Naples, NY
FREE & Open to public
9:00am-5:00pm — Artists paint along the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail.

6:00-9:00pm — A preview party for artists, sponsors, and art collectors, at which awards will be presented and attendees will be given an early opportunity to purchase the artwork created during the competition. Artists will be in attendance. The awards ceremony will be held during the preview party, at 7 pm. Light fare by nolan’s will be served, with wine sampling, a cash bar and music by the Maria Gillard Trio.
Public Exhibit & Sale – Sonnenberg Gardens
at the Carriage House (151 Charlotte Street, Canandaigua)
11:00am-4:00pm – FREE & Open to public
Exhibit and sale of artwork created during the competition. The show is free and open to the public. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
2017 Judge, Sara Linda Poly Workshop
TBA – Sonnenberg Gardens (weather permitting)
This special workshop, presented by the 2017 Finger Lakes Plein Air judge, Sara Linda Poly, will cover composition and design, choosing subject matter, how to use light and shadow, color, and atmospheric perspective to show distance, as well as new ideas for paint application.
