Host An Artist 2019

Are you curious about the life of a professional artist?

Have you wondered how dabs of paint or strokes of pastel sticks can transform paper or canvas into amazing artworks?

Volunteer to host an artist and get your questions answered about life as an independent plein air artist. Become an important part of the Finger Lakes Plein Air Festival!

2016 Second Place George Van HookThe 2019 Finger Lakes Plein Air Painting Competition and Festival (FLPAC) will be held June 4th– 9th . Plein Air painting means painting out of doors, so rain or shine our 40+ professional juried-in artists will be painting throughout our uniquely beautiful and diverse Ontario County.  As a host, perhaps your home, garden or lake view will become their next inspiration!  Here’s what a first time host had to say after the experience:

“…we signed up to host an artist in our home, at the request of our neighbor who was volunteering at the festival. Hosting our artist gave us insight into all the activities that happen during Plein Air Week and the process of competing in Plein Air festivals.  Now, we follow our artist on Facebook and feel like we have made a lifelong friend…We will definitely sign up to host again.”

Thank you, Linda and Chuck and everyone who has helped us in the past!

We are seeking hosts who can accommodate one artist or one artist and his/her companion/spouse from at least June 4thto June 9th, the main festival dates.  Many artists may arrive the day before to scout the area and most will depart early on the 10th.  Our artists will make a minimal impact on you and your family as most of the time they will be outdoors painting or at scheduled events.   Hosts are not expected to provide meals.  As hosts you will be guests at the Saturday evening preview party and sale and of course will learn of all other art week events!

Can you help? Fill out and submit the 2019 form below.

The 2019 artists are busy submitting their applications to participate.  By March we will know who is coming.  You will only then be matched with an artist who is a good fit for your home situation and preferences.  Can’t help us this year?  Perhaps a friend or neighbor would like to host.  Please let them know about the opportunity!  Thank you!
