2014 Festival Re-cap & Winners
The 2014 Third Annual Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition & Festival was a resounding success, attracting forty-four accomplished artists from all over the country and Canada for five days of painting, community events, lectures and demonstrations. We also hosted a gala preview party, exhibit and sale Saturday evening, and a community show and sale Sunday at Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion. During this competition more than one hundred seventy pieces of art were completed and more than thirty-nine pieces were sold to the public.
Most important, community involvement swelled beyond our expectation this year. Community “meet-the-artists” events, lectures and demonstrations at the Canandaigua Yacht Club, Ferris Hills and Memorial Art Gallery were at “standing-room-only” capacity. Plus, the Community Paint Out in downtown Canandaigua Saturday afternoon attracted thirty area landscape artists who painted and exhibited their art for sale.
The artists loved the time spent painting our beautiful lake, cityscapes, and landscapes… the public loved participating… and we loved this opportunity to burnish the Finger Lakes’ reputation as a culturally rich and appealing community.
